What has happened?
On May 13th 2026 it was announced that Zootracker will shut down on May 24th 2026. A few community
members got together and decided to launch a follow-up project called Bestiia.
How will it continue?
Great effort was put in over the last week to ensure that the bittorrent tracker behind Zootracker can
continue operating. This piece of software connects seeders and leechers and makes the downloads possible in
the first place. That means seeders and leecher can still be connected even if they used torrents
from Zootracker. The admin of Zootracker pointed the domain to one of our servers, thus the end users
will not have to perform any changes for now.
Building a site from the ground up is gonna take some time, so please be aware of that. We will regularly
post updates on the progess directly on bestiia.com.
What can I do to help?
Seed and leech. You can find an archive with nearly all torrents that were on Zootracker for download on bestiia.com. Please
grab this archive, get the content you want and please seed it as much as possible. It is absolutely crucial
to keep the content alive over the coming weeks.
Furthermore, for resiliency reason the content should be spread to as many different people as possible.
How long will everything take?
At least a couple of weeks.
Some codes were handled out before the shutdown. What is up with them?
Those codes were handled out to members of the community that were seeding a lot, shared content,
contributed ideas, contributed to the discussion or helped in other ways.
Those codes reserved their old usernames, will grant them access to bestiia as soon as we have a version
ready and will provide them a few other benefits. They do not act as exclusive access, everybody will
have their chance to join. It is planned to open the registration on certain days each month. For
more information please check out bestiia.com.
I didn't receive a code, but I contributed!
A lot of things had to happen all at the same time over the last week, because of the little time we had. We tried our best to
handle out codes to everyone we saw, who helped out in a way, but we for sure have missed people.
Sorry for that! You will have a chance to join later on.
Lastly we really want to thank the admin of Zootracker. Without his help nothing here could have been possible.
Seeders would have been disconnected from everyone and the community would have dissolved. Its thanks
to his willingness to help that we even have a chance to launch bestiia. We said it a few times, but
we really mean it: Thank you, admin!
